Release v1.22 continues to focus on improving UI and ease of use:

  1. GANTT charts enhancements: reflecting holiday and off time, more accurate drawing of time bars for tasks in state 'in_work'.
  2. I18N related infrastructure is being put in place. You can graph foreign language text (including Japanese) now. Again, mostly for GANNT charts.
  3. Email integration utility allowing to connect to an IMAP mailbox and catch new requests and comments for attachment in Yoxel. Capturing Nagios' email notifications for filing them in Yoxel as new support tickets is possible now.
  4. Many bug fixes related to the new RMS/ITPM UI structure introduced in v1.21.

10 april 2008
Release v1.21 mostly focused on improving UI and ease of use:

  1. Added quite prominent shortcut links to most common functions, e.g. Add User, Add Product, Start Iteration.
  2. Added prerequisite checks and guide alerts. For example, if you try to start an iteration, you have to have products defined. The system will check that and if no products are defined it will guide you to the right panel where you can add the products.
  3. Added guiding alerts for the project/iteration planning session. The system now guides you through the process of planning and helping you to enter the right information to better and faster get an accurate plan.
  4. Project manager now can account for holiday/vacation time (that is when a resource is not working) in addition to weekend days. Added a panel 'time off' under 'myYoxel' company holidays and personal days off can be entered.
  5. Bug fixes

9 march 2008
Release v1.20, our first step towards internationalization:

  1. Adoption of UTF-8 character set encoding throughout all Yoxel code:
    • Now you can enter descriptions, comments, user/contact/account information, action items in your native language. Even product/component (environment/queue) names entered in a language other than English should be handled correctly.
  2. IT customer portal:
    • Allow selected customers access to your IT ticket tracker and knowledge base.
    • Each portal is an controlled environment: What the customers can file (tickets or tasks) and for which IT environments is controlled by you.
    • Each portal is an isolated environment: different customers do not see each other's tickets and questions unless you allow it.
  3. New navigation mode switch "Full/Normal focus" : When in need of more space within your browser window "full focus" mode hides the menu and logos allowing you to focus only on the page you are working on. This feature will be very useful when dealing with Release and IT project planning pages that contain alot of information to be processed.
  4. Polishing of recently added (v1.19) capabilities and bug fixes: ReleaseManager/IT ProjectManager, KnowledgeBaseSystem, Installation instructions.

5 march 2008
We have adopted UTF-8 character encoding throughout Yoxel code (starting with v1.20b). Now you can enter descriptions, comments, user/contact/account information, action items in your native language. Even product/component (environment/queue) names entered in a language other than English should be handled correctly. The internationalization work has just started so expect improvements in this area. Currently, the reporting module (PDF and Excel generation) is known to still have problems with UTF-8. There could be other parts of the code that we have overlooked, so please send us your feedback.

Please give it a try in one of our demo accounts. Click the 'Try It' button on the home page and add a comment in your native language for an existing request or a release.

15 february 2008
Now when subscribing to Yoxel on-demand your company gets free access to most of our services: agile product management (YOXEL SW), knowledge management (YOXEL KB), lightweight CRM (YOXEL SLS), agile project management for IT (YOXEL IT). With one free user license for Release Manager (or IT Project Manager) you can still manage multiple software releases (or IT projects). All most popular CRM services (accounts/contacts/leads management, forecasts management, customer activity log) are free also.

25 january 2008
Release v1.19 enhances backlog management and iteration planning experience:

  1. ReleaseManager/IT ProjectManager:
    • enhanced filter based 'add existing request' window
    • quick zoom in on decommits from previous iterations
    • scroll through whole backlog without leaving the planning panel
    • add multiple requests to your plan at a time
    • relaxed resource detection mode (default now)
  2. Bug Fixes and minor enhancements:
    • KnowledgeBaseSystem: search output now is correctly sorted by score now, improved key word highliting.
    • ReleaseManager/IT ProjectManager: gantt and burndown chart progress reflection, auto resource balancing mode for newly added requests, some corrections to dashboard charts.

25 november 2007
Release v1.18 adds more sales/CRM related capabilities:

  1. YOXEL SLS (Yoxel for sales teams) is extended to include a new License Management System. This system allows you to automate software license requesting/cutting process as well as keeping track of issued license files and their details: feature key sets, expiration dates, installation/booking/billing fees ...
  2. Contacts management part of the site has been enhanced with a capability to save filters. Just as with filters in other Yoxel sub-systems you can save the filters for contacts, share them with others, and quickly and conveniently run customized queries in Yoxel database.
  3. ReleaseManager/IT ProjectManager: history panel is enhanced to allow any user to add himself to CC list, so the CC list now can be more than just project members. This will be very useful for project status team communication.
  4. ReleaseManager/IT ProjectManager: 'done' panel is enhanced to allow you to add URL(links) to relevant files and documents. So for a project that is complete you will be able to find important files that are kept externally (not in Yoxel database).
  5. A number of bug fixes

30 september 2007
Release v1.17 has a number of new capabilities:

  1. YOXEL SLS (an experimental suite for sales teams) that has been only available in our on-demand version is now included in the downloadable open source version. You get two subsystems: sales forecast tracking and product evaluations tracking. Please let us know what you think about it.
  2. CVS and basic Subversion integration is enabled though email comments support. For details, please see question #13 and #14 in our Knowledge Base.
  3. Profile editing capabilities added for customer/contact logins. Besides entering contacts information only on your side (correct name/email/password/opt-out options/...) you can now rely to some degree on the contact itself, certain fields have been opened for your contacts to edit.
  4. SMTP mail. Besides standard PHP/sendmail based email now you have an option to configure Yoxel to use another SMTP server. This is quite useful when your server does not have a local sendmail installation.
  5. New configuration file 'yoxel-config.inc' - a more organized way to configure Yoxel.
  6. Support for Retrospectiva external bug-tracker has been added too. Now it is possible to configure Yoxel to import requests from one of these bug-trackers: Bugzilla, GNATS, Mantis, Retrospectiva. Please contact us at support@yoxel.com if you would like to try this out.
  7. A number of bug fixes

22 august 2007
We are very pleased to find out that o3 magazine has dedicated its issue #7 to the topic of agile product management and Yoxel. o3 is sponsored by Spliced Networks that happens to have been successfully using Yoxel for six months now. Please check out the article.

17 august 2007
Release v1.16 focusing on dashboards engine and bug fixes:

  1. You can customize most of the dashlets now. Simply click 'config' link and pick desired parameters (Title, #requests to show, ...).
  2. A generic filter based dashlet has been added which can be used across all Yoxel modules now (Request Tracker, Release Manager, IT Ticket Tracker, IT Project Manager, Knowledge Management System, Evaluations Tracker, Forecasts Tracker). You select a filter that you have saved, choose fields to show and in which order, and pick an 'order by' criterion. The dashlet is a table of requests corresponding to these parameters.
  3. Empty dashlets are now also shown on your dashboard pages for more intuitive management. Simply click 'remove' link if you do not need those.
  4. We have unified our product/component management panel (the same code handles IT Environment/Queue, and KB Category/Sub-category now). Permissions to use and view it have been relaxed too.
  5. A few minor UI improvements in RMS/ITPM planning&tracking panels
  6. Some bug fixes

16 july 2007
It started this weekend again, we are under email spoofing attack. We are receving tons of 'Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender' emails. Our domain name yoxel.com is used by someone for sending SPAM to people. We appologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately we can not do much about it. We are definitely not the ones sending all this SPAM. Although seems like one of the victim servers has identified the spammer's IP:

The email sent from wypyoxelfet@yoxel.com
to ... was identified as spam since it was listed in the RBL Providers list with the following information:
RBL Provider name: bl.spamcop.net
RBL information: IP Address : 83.108.38.58 -> Blocked - see http://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?83.108.38.58

Release v1.15 continues to focus on UI improvements and bug fixes:

  1. Our dashboards engine has been significantly enhanced. Now, with a drag&drop and just a click of your mouse you should be able to re-arrange, resize, or remove dashlets/portlets on your dashboard pages. Another pop-up window allows you to add dashlets to your dashboard pages. The list of available dashlet types is not long yet but in the next release we will be adding two generic types for customizable filter based request tables and charts. If you need to have a specific dashboard, let us know.
  2. A few more neat DHTML enhancements in various parts of the portal, including ReleaseManager & IT ProjectManager
  3. Some minor 'default workflow' changes to enable more convenient list of 'actions', including click statistics based sorting of the list.
  4. Simplified and combined products/queues/categories editing panel. Which resulted in slight menu changes.
  5. Bug fixes and other minor enhancements

21 june 2007

  1. RPS/ITPM: project navigation menu, history log tab to capture project collaboration and enable commenting, additional help text, a few other DHTML tricks to simplify navigation.
  2. RTS: additional help text for the request 'view window'
  3. A few bug fixes as usual

28 march 2007
Main highlights of v1.11 release:

  1. KBS: automatic FAQ generation capability added. Yoxel knowledge base search is community guided so users' feedback in terms of search result relevancy helps Yoxel determine which questions are most popular in each category.
  2. KBS: you can scan through all the comments posted for a particular question/answer record now and mark the ones that seem to you like expert opinions. Yoxel will use this feedback to determine experts for each knowledge base category.
  3. RPS/ITPM: reporting useful statistics at the end of a release/project. You will see now the following statistics that will help you plan your next iteration:
    • for each planned and implemented task: estimated fix/test time vs. actual reported time (e/a)
    • for each implementer/tester: number of tasks assigned vs. number of tasks delivered
    • for each implementer/tester: average estimated fix/test time vs. average actual reported (e/a)
    • for each implementer/tester: actual reported time vs. total available time
    • and more ...
  4. Bug fixes ...

27 february 2007
Main highlights of v1.10 release:

  1. KBS/RTS: shared customer access! Now a question or a request filed by one customer can be shared with others. This is especially helpful in sharing FAQ's.
  2. RTS: statistics of actual time spent. Now when turning a request status to fixed/verified the owner can input what it actually took him to fix/test. The information is analyzed and used for better estimations in the next incremental releases/projects.
  3. RPS/ITPM: Mostly UI improvements and bug fixes.
  4. WorkFlow: statistics driven action order. Now Yoxel accumulates the hit rate of the request actions in a given state and tries to show the most popular actions first. Requires some time to ramp up.
  5. Contacts management: added relation between contacts and activity log.
  6. Bug fixes ...

15 october 2006
In the last 2-3 weeks we have received many 'Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender' emails which leads us to believe that our domain name yoxel.com is used for sending SPAM to people. We apologize for the inconvenience but unfortunately we can not do much here. We are definitely not the ones sending these emails. Here is an example:

Is like an announcement: see, we have implemented Web Services, we are really smart, buy T-shirts with our logo. It's nothing new, the Olympics were offline too. With the changes in Firefox, Google Toolbar got an update too, and it is different: now it breaks Greasemonkey. I know a few things about those creepy APIs that Yahoo and Google are using as dust on the eye of the market, it isn't different when we're speaking about the real deal - the search results' URL's. What's the catch with GMail? ......

12 october 2006
Main highlights of v1.06 release:

  1. Alot of improvements in Release Planning System, based on feedback from our users.
  2. IT project management system has not changed though (still the same as in 1.05 version).
  3. Our new filtering capabilities are very powerful. Chart configurations and report templates build on top of the requ est filters.
  4. Many bug fixes ...

12 september 2006
A few significant bugs have been reported recently that may preclude you from successful installation of our software. v1.05 has a fix for those. Please use 'anonymous login' (support page) to our internal request tracking system to see reported issues or report your own.

30 august 2006
Filter your database of requests to zoom in on requests that are particularly interesting for you. Save filters for re-use in the future. Share them with your team.

20 august 2006
Search your requests by entering natural human language phrases. Train Yoxel on relevancy of returned search results. Benefit from previous experience of your community. The capability is in beta and we are still experimenting with it. Check it out under SOFTWARE/requests/search menu.

8 august 2006
An experimental sales forecasting system has been added. It is very basic and for the time being we will keep it this way. Our focus remains to be product and project management.

28 july 2006
We added capabilities of lead management plus more useful fields for storing information for leads and contacts. Check out customers/contacts section of our portal.

10 july 2006
The Evaluation Tracking System is designed for sales, marketing, field applications and sales engineers to keep track of technical pre-sales activities. At the moment the system comes with one default evaluation plan. Please contact us at support@yoxel.com for any additional customizations.

20 june 2006
Now to add a comment to an existing request you do not have to log in to yoxel.com. You can simply reply to a RTS or TTS email. Keep the original subject (with request id) and make sure To or CC line contains the rts<sig>@yoxel.com address (which is a special address for your account). Yoxel.Com will automatically attach the body of such an email to the request history log. You can have different discussions within your team regarding a request over email and all the correspondence will be captured as comments for the request at yoxel.com.

9 june 2006
You can easily create a copy of an existing request with some modifications, "clone it". And when doing that you can make the cloned request to be a subrequest of the original one. This feature will help you quickly create similar requests for different components of your product and also break up your complex requests into subrequests.

23 may 2006
From now on you will be able to download our installable LAMP based software from SourceForge. Current version of the code is released under GPL. Please let us know how the code works for you.

19 may 2006
Please visit our improved support page where we added a few more options of filing your requests directly into our database. An anonymous login is available too.

8 may 2006
As you may know the preliminary project plan is generated automatically in YOXEL SW/IT. We have just added more controls to steer the generator. You can now select a list or product components (IT queues) which are more important for you in the new release (IT project) and the generator will focus on those when processing the backlog.

22 april 2006
YOXEL IT suite of solutions for IT departments (Ticket Tracking and Project Management) is available now in beta version. We are looking for first adopters who will be able to use it for free. Check it out in our demo accounts ...

17 april 2006
Now when allowing your customers to conect to your request tracking system you can control which classes of requests they can file (bug,enhancement,support,...) and for which products they can file those. It probably makes sense to only allow support requests for products the customer uses but it is really up to you now.

3 april 2006
Under the 'products' menu we added sub-menu 'bundles', a simple panel allowing you to create non-overlapping groups of products. The main usage of the bundles at the moment is in 'request tracking/critical requests'. Instead of selecting products now you can select a bundle and set exact execution priorities for all the critical requests for the group of products.

12 march 2006
Now your account managers and professional services engineers can log the information of what is going on with your customers (meetings, discussions, event summaries). Customer Activity Log is a convenient way to keep the history of the events and allow your teams to be well informed on activity in all your accounts.

06 march 2006
In your Yoxel account you can keep and share the information about all your customers and contacts. For any of the customer/contact a master user can open access to the Request Tracking System with limited viewing and filing permissions.

06 february 2006
Wheather you are using Yoxel request tracking or Yoxel flexible reporting engine you will probably want to add some custom fields to enhance the requests and reports. Now you do not have to ask us to do it every time you need to add or edit a field, we have added a web interface that allows a Master User of your Yoxel account to add and edit the custom fields. This feature just like other eXtra reporting capabilities is available to you when you purchase our "BTS eXtra Reporting" license.

25 january 2006
We have not advertised it much but one of the services available in Yoxel.Com portal is the Action Item Management System. It is a simple system that allows you to keep track of your every day action items with a very convenient capability of sorting them in the exact desirable order. The system also allows managers to set action items for their subordinates. Private and public action items are suported providing a mechanism to share or hide certain items from other users of your Yoxel account.

19 december 2005
We are working on our next project Yoxel IT and Ticket Tracking System is the first service from this suite. This is basically a helpdesk service for IT organization in your company. Check it out in one of our demo accounts.

9 december 2005
To better demonstrate capabilities of Yoxel services we added more demo accounts. These accounts daily import real data for popular projects Firefox, Apache, MySQL. Check out how you could easily plan the next realease of Firefox, Apache Server or MySQL Server.

30 november 2005
Now you can analyze requests in the bug tracking database by drawing pie and line charts. You can actually investigate the real time data in our demo accounts imported from remote Bugzilla's of popular projects like Firefox and Apache.

25 october 2005
Concerned about keeping all your data on our server? Now we can configure your account to work with your own MySQL server over SSL. Our server will only keep your server's access username and password but you will have full control over all your data, backup and access policies. Contact us directly to set up this mode of operation for your account.

28 september 2005
Now as you step from Planning into Implementation and Testing phases of your release you can monitor the execution of planned requests and view Gantts charts that will show you how you're doing against your set targets.

10 august 2005
Gantts Charts help you visualize release plan and resource allocation.

17 july 2005
Improved UI for the internal pages. New more intuitive horizontal menu. Log in to our demo account from the home page.

5 july 2005
Added more information about our services with detailed lists of features and prices.(See our services page.)

15 june 2005
You can track bugs, enhancement requests, new development requests or any other request class in our BTS now. Any number of request classes can be defined using our new workflow subsystem. For each request class you can define its workflow to process different classes of requests along different paths simultaneously. Currently you will have to contact Yoxel Support to do workflow customizations.

8 may 2005
As an example in our demo account we configured the BTS-IMPORT module to import data from Mozilla's bug tracking system (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/). To see how importing works:

  1. Log into our demo account (yoxelID: 'master_user@demo', Password: 'demo123').
  2. In the main menu click on 'bug tracking'.
  3. In the main page you will see an 'Import' input field in which you can enter one or more request/bug numbers. Click on the 'Import' button to import those requests.
  4. Yoxel will retrieve the data associated with each specified request number from the external BTS and create a corresponding local request. This request in local Yoxel database will be of a special type and will be periodically synchronized from its remote copy.
  5. Use query sub-menu to see which new requests were added in the local database.

In this example the external BTS is Bugzilla. Yoxel can also do importing from GNATS and it is possible to customize our BTS-IMPORT module to import from almost any BTS. If you want to set-up this importing capability from your BTS please contact us.

17 april 2005
To better understand what BTS eXtra and Release Planning System can do, please log in to our demo account and see for yourself. You can try generating some reports in PDF/XLS using BTS eXtra. You can also play with RPS and see what a release plan can look like.

13 april 2005
Our Release Planning System is in beta still but at this point we are ready to engage with interested RnD groups. Of cause for all beta engagements our software project management package RPS is free.

28 march 2005
We understand how popular Bugzilla, GNATS and other free bug tracking systems are. That is why we added import capabilities to Yoxel which will allow you to use Yoxel's BTS eXtra Reporting and Release Planning without having to switch to Yoxel's BTS. Keep using your Bugzilla or GNATS but also benefit from the customer reports generation and project management capabilities that Yoxel provides. Yoxel's import engine will do automatic synchronization of its BTS database with the external one.

In order to start using BTS eXtra or RPS on top of your existing Bugzilla or GNATS database you will have to contact us at info@yoxel.com. Bugzillas and GNATS are not all the same so we might need to add a little customization to our engines by working individually with you.

14 february 2005
We set up a demo account for new visitors of our site. All our free services are activated in this account so you will get a pretty good idea what our BTS is like. Log in to our demo account using the following credentials:

yoxelID: 'master_user@demo'
password: 'demo123'.

This logs you in as a Master User so you can try all the knobs of acount configuration: editing company's and users' profiles, adding products and components for BTS, adding customers and contacts information, adding action items to your to-do list. We recommend you to look at our BTS in more detail: see how bugs can be filed and searched for, see BTD/Critical page that allows to set exact order of execution for your critical requests.

10 january 2005
This page is quite poor at the moment and only contains 'Getting Started' instructions and email contact information. 'Getting Started' is step by step guide on how to quickly sign-up with Yoxel.Com and configure your BTS at minimum.

We definetely plan to enhance this page by improving its layout and adding FAQ and other usefull notes.

1 december 2004
Finally Yoxel.Com has a decent graphics design. Not all pages are ready yet but the important ones are. Check out our 'home' and 'services' pages to understand better what Yoxe.Com is doing and planning to do.

The design has been implemented by a Ukranian graphics design team SparkleDesign. If you would like to find out more about their services contact us or follow their link on our home page.

10 november 2004
Now you can create customer records for use in BTS corresponding to a company or a group within a company. Also you can add/keep/share all your business contacts on file company wide and assocciate them with customer records. In addition to that you can open customer logins for any contact that you entered and they will have a restricted access to your BTS.
